A deep clean isn't a regular clean done slower. It's a different job with a different list. Here's the checklist our team follows in homes across Englewood, Teaneck, Fort Lee, and the rest of Bergen County — and the reason the order matters as much as the list does.
Start in the kitchen, and start high. Cabinet tops, the range hood, then cabinet fronts, then the backsplash, then counters, then appliances, then the floor. Working top to bottom means gravity does half the work — anything you knock loose lands on a surface you haven't cleaned yet. Pull everything off the counters first. Wipe down the small appliances, empty the toaster tray, degrease the stovetop, and clean the inside of the microwave. If the fridge and oven are on your list, they get done here too.
Bathrooms next. Pre-treat the shower grout and glass and let the product actually sit while you work on the rest of the room — that soak time is what separates a deep clean from scrubbing hard for no reason. Then toilet, sink, mirrors, fixtures, and the floor last. Don't skip the base of the toilet, the tracks on sliding shower doors, or the exhaust fan cover.
Bedrooms and living areas are mostly about dust, and dust hides in the places nobody looks at eye level: ceiling fan blades, the tops of door frames, baseboards, window sills and tracks, light switches, remotes, and the underside of furniture. Strip and remake the beds, vacuum thoroughly including under and behind what moves, then mop.
How do you know when it's time? If you can write your name on a baseboard, if the grout is a different color than it used to be, or if it's simply been more than six months — book the deep clean. Most of our clients get one done first, then keep it that way with a basic clean every week or two.
